Celestun is a small fishing town. At the entrance by the bridge you can rent a small boat (up to eight people) and visit the Flamingo Sanctuary, drink water from a spring in the mangroves and visit the petrified forest. After your boat ride, go into town for a good fresh sea food lunch. The prices are reasonable and the food is excellent.
Dzibilchaltun, is only 7 miles from the Merida -Progreso highway. This site was inhabited by the Mayas for the longest period of time. It has an excellent museum and a great cenote for swimming.

PROGRESO an important port town where fishing and tourism are the main source of income of the towners. The six mile long pier is hope to be included in the cruise ship routes that will bring more tourists to this important port. Progreso is also an excellent place to go swimming, and for lunch there are many restaurants with fresh fish, sea food in season and yucatecan dishes.
UXMAL, is the thrice built city with the colossal Magicians Pyramids, the Governor Palace, the Doves Temple and the Grand Nuns Quadrangle. You can find a tourist center with shops and restaurants.
